My whole being will exclaim, “Who is like you, LORD? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them.” – Psalm 35:10
I love the wording David uses in Psalm 35:10. As he considers God’s goodness, His love, His power, His faithfulness, His grace, and the list could go on – David’s soul sings out “Who is like you, LORD?” David is overwhelmed by the goodness to God. He can’t compare God to anyone because there is no one else like Him.
God is unique from everyone else because He alone is infinite and eternal. We are weak and finite, but the Lord is almighty and has no beginning or end.
David echoes these words in his prayer in 2 Samuel
“How great you are, Sovereign LORD! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears. – 2 Samuel 7:22
When was the last time you stopped and meditated on God’s character? As we do so, our hearts will fill with praise. We will be overwhelmed that He sought a relationship with us. Men and women seek happiness in all sort of relationships while forsaking God who alone others everlasting love.
Who can we compare God with?
Buddha died at the age of eighty and depended on karma and reincarnation. God is eternal and offers eternal life to all who put they trust in Him.
What about Baal? We read a lot about Baal in the Bible and history. Baal required sacrifices to please him and stop his wrath against people. Jesus became a sacrifice to demonstrate God’s love towards people.
How about some of the most powerful emperours of history? Alexander the great, Napoleon Bonaparte, Genghis khan, Hitler or Stalin? Jeremiah answer that question for us.
No one is like you, LORD; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. Who should not fear you, King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise leaders of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you. – Jeremiah 10:6-7
Let take some time today to thank God for who He is because truly there is no one like Him.
