Today’s Reading: 1 Peter 4:7-5:14 (additional reading: Psalm 119:81-96 & Proverbs 28:15-16)

Key Verse: “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith,…” 1-Peter 5:8-9a

If there was ever a time when Satan’s roar could be heard it is today. Everywhere you turn, no matter what you read or what position you hold in life, Satan’s roar is loud and convincing to the human heart to turn to fear, lust and sin.

I would dare say that each of us has heard Satan’s roar this very week. Possibly you are hearing it in your ear, in your mind, and in your heart at this very moment. his roar strikes terror and fear into the ear that will hear him, into the mind that will meditate upon that roar and into the heart that allows his roaring to take root.

Satan’s roar is his  greatest weapon to convince people to do his will! It appeals to the nature of man who desires to do evil. He never ceases to roar, in an attempt to drown out the voice of God.

Satan’s roar van be heard in the workplace, marketplace, in your own home and in your ear, as you drive down the road! He roars in your ear in the doctor’s office and even as you sit in the church! He never quits roaring!

Satan’s roar can be heard in your workplace when you catch wind of the latest gossip about a layoff that is coming. He roars when you hear of cutbacks, downsizing, and reductions in force. He roars when you hear of buy-outs, changes in administration and a myriad of other ways. Satan’s roar in your ear that says that all of these things will affect you negatively.

Notice one important thing! Satan is roaring, but James 4:7 says “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”Notice this, Satan’s roar may sound terrifying but Scripture promises that when we Submit to God and resist the devil he must flee!

Don’t fall prey to Satan’s roar! I want to remind of the greater Lion. He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, he only begotten Son of God, King of King and Lord of Lords. The most powerful roar ever heard in all creation is when Jesus said, “IT IS FINISHED”! Christ roar has resounded through all of creation, and for all of time.
