Today we will be looking at John 16, this is an amazing chapter which outlines one of Jesus’ last conversations with his disciples. The this chapter He speaks about the Holy Spirit which He is about to send.
12 “I have many more things to say to you, but they are too much for you now. 13 But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will lead you into all truth. He will not speak his own words, but he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is to come.
These verse really speak to me once more about my need for the Holy Spirit. We so need the Holy Spirt in our lives. He wants to walk with us, talk with us, cousel us, comfort us.
Jesus actually said it was good that he left, why? because Jesus living as Man on earth was confined to his physical body, but when he sent the Holy Spirit, God came in his Omnipresence. He could reach all people, in every area of the World at one time. Wherever we are he can meet our needs and we can fellowship with Him.
I think in the next days, I’m going to be looking at the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is not a topic but He is a person. He is not someone we need to learn something about, but someone we need to get to know. We need to have a relationship with him.
Look what Jesus says in John 14:15-17
15If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands. 16And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever– 17The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you.
Isn’t this amazing, Jesus says that we will know the Holy Spirit and recognize Him, for He lives with us constantly and will be in us. We need to invite Him into our lives because God has so much more to say to us and wants to communicate with each and everyday.
