Key Verses: “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” Galatians 3:26-27
“In Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.” Let that sink in a moment. The Bible says that when we come to Christ in faith, we become a child of God. Wow! Our Father is the creator of the universe and sits high on His throne and rules over all.
Since we are a child of God, we have the privileges of being a child. We are invited to come sit in our Father’s lap and share what our heart is feeling and what we need. We are not kept at a distance. We are His son or daughter. We don’t have to take a number. We don’t have to make an appointment. We don’t have to wait in line. We are His children. We can go right to His throne.
Some of you reading this may think, “But He’s God, He has more important things to worry about than me.” That statement could not be more wrong. He is God, but you are His child. You are important to Him and He loves you so very much. Your heartache makes His heart ache. Your joy brings great joy to His heart. When you succeed, He is there to share in the celebration, though the success came through Him working through you. When you fail, He is there to catch you and comfort you and hold you tight. That’s what good fathers do and He is the best Father of all!
Additional, as His children, we share in His inheritance. In Romans, Paul says: “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17). As His children, every good thing that belongs to Him He passes along to us. He blesses us because of His unending love. We belong to Him. Make no mistake, in Christ, you are His child.
Finally, as our Father, He protects us. Nothing comes to us that does not first go through Him. This truth does not guarantee that tough times will not come. In fact, we can be sure that they will. But, it does mean that every struggle in our life He will use to grow us stronger rather than tear us down in defeat. The hand of God is protecting His child.
In Christ, you are God’s child. As earthly children resemble their parents, in Christ those around us, should recognize us as God’s children. We should always be becoming more like Christ who was the perfect reflection of the Father.
