He is a faithful Comforter – it is often sad when you are in a time of need for comfort and a friend leaves you down. It is never so with the Holy Spirit. He always loves, and loves until the end— He is a faithful Comforter

He is an unwearied Comforter – Have you ever had times when you have tried to comfort someone in distress? Each time you try to tackle the issue in another direction, until you yourself get tired of this issue. It seems the more try to comfort such people, the worse they get; and therefore, eventually we give up and we leave them to tackle it alone.

But the Holy Spirit never gives up with those whom He wishes to comfort. He attempts to comfort us even when we run away from his advice. He is unwearied Comforter who will stay close by.

He is a wise Comforter – We see that Job during all his trials and troubles had his comforters, but he says in Job 16

1Then Job answered,

2″I have heard many such things;
Sorry comforters are you all.
3″Is there no limit to windy words?
Or what plagues you that you answer?
4″I too could speak like you,
If I were in your place.
I could compose words against you
And shake my head at you.
5″I could strengthen you with my mouth,
And the solace of my lips could lessen your pain.

Did they not care for Job? If they could not comfort him, who could? It is a terriable situation when the doctor mistakes the disease and gives a wrong prescription and cause more ill to the patient. But this is never so with the Holy Spirit, because he knows us, even better then we know ourselves.

Often when we want to comfort someone, we try to comfort only the symptom, but the Holy Spirit knows the cause and cuts straight to the root of the discomfort. He never mistakes.

The Holy Spirit is an active Comforter: He does not only comfort by words, but also by deeds. He intercedes with Jesus; He gives us promises, He gives us grace, and so He comforts us.

He is always a successful Comforter; He never attempts what He cannot accomplish.

He is an ever-present Comforter, so that you never have to send for Him. Your God is always near you, and when you need comfort in your distress, He is an ever-present help in time of trouble.
