The Bible in its opening verse declares that ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth’ (Gen 1:1).
Have you ever sat and really looked at God’s handiwork? Isn’t it amazing? You can see the starlit sky at night. The stars seem to shine like diamonds. Have you ever watched the heavens at dawn when it looks like a blazing orange canvas? Even when the stormy days come and they are filled with gray skies, torrents of rainfall and winds sway the trees like they are dancing, it is a sight to see the wonders of God’s artistic hand.
/yet, God’s greatest masterpiece is you and me. Man and woman were created to have fellowship with God. We weren’t the afterthought in creation. We were the special finishing touches. God created all that we see and then finally He created Man (male and female) in His own image.
God was eternally satisfied and needed nothing, not even man; but in Love, in perfect joy God created man in His own image so that man may reflect His glory and live to worship God and enjoy God forever.
The gospel message begins with the knowledge that God created each of us for his glory. Glory is a very hard thing to define. It is like the word “Beauty.” The glory of God is the beauty and excellence of his manifold perfections. It is an attempt to put into words what God is like in his magnificence and purity. It refers to his infinite and overflowing fullness of all that is good.
