In today’s reading, we see that even thousands of years before Jesus came to Earth, God always had a plan of redemption for his children. He gave hints of what was to come by passing along instructions for the use of certain colours in the tabernacle and the clothing of the priests.
Bezalel and Oholiab are two most famous names in the whole Bible. Right? Of course not. Were they priests? Or prophets? Or Apostles? No, they were two guys who worked with their hands. Yet Bezalel is the first person in Scripture to be described as “filled with the Spirit of God.”
Israel were just two years into their forty year journey at this point in time. However, God had faithfully provided daily manna for them to eat. He had provided water from a flint rock that they might drink. He had given to them the assurance of His presence on a daily basis as He guided them on their way. He had not allowed their clothes to wear out, or their shoes to wax old on their feet. Israel could truly say that everything they had, God had given to them.
There is a difference between those who merely get by – who copy, imitate, and fake it – and those who are “real” or authentic about what they believe and do.
We need to experience the presence of God to experience His power. So many people are chasing God’s power when they should be dwelling in His presence.
